Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Thailand

   The tradition of the floating market lies at the heart of Thai culture. The floating market takes place everyday in the cool of the morning. Local traders at the floating market wear large straw hats to protect eyes from the morning sun as they paddle up and down the market in small wooden boats (sampans) selling the season's fruit and vegetables from their sampans piled up with produce.     

     Damnoen Saduak is also an excellent place to enjoy some local Thai food (especially noodles); also sold from samprans. Our program includes the price of hiring a speedboat on the canal to the floating market.
